Post 16 Flyer For Open Evening

Our Post-16 Specialist Support offers functional skills entry levels, 1,2 and 3.  We also offer Level 1 and Level 2 provision which aims to work with pupils with high level educational needs.  Students who attend this resource require a level of specialist support which may not normally be available in other mainstream school.  Students may have additional needs which fall into the categories of:

• • • moderate learning difficulties;
    • deaf and hearing impairment;
    • autism;
    • physical impairment;
    • visual impairment;

Pupils spend most of their time within the Post 16 Specialist Support where they have access to teaching and teaching assistant staff in a small group, with the aim to nurture self-belief and confidence by promoting independence, life skills and social skills.

The curriculum includes:

• • • Functional Skills Entry Levels 1,2 and 3 and Level 1 in English Maths and ICT;
    • Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Levels 1 and 2;
    • Two 5 day residential visits each year

Although students have many of their lessons within the unit, they may have lessons with students on the level 2 pathway (for example resit English or Maths).

Students come from a large number of different schools within the area and we welcome visits specific to the facility at any time.
