In the first week of the school holidays, we held a Summer School.  Over 200 soon to be year 7 pupils attended the five-day experience which included academic lessons in Maths, English, Science and Geography delivered by their future teachers and form staff.  Each afternoon was devoted to a variety of sports including dance, martial arts and fitness training which was delivered by our colleagues in the Amber Valley School Sports Partnerships.  On the final day the pupils went on a trip to the Snowdome in Tamworth where they received a Ski lesson.

All break time lunches were provided by the school and the pupils had their first experience with our great catering team.

The Summer School was fully funded through the DFE summer school programme and just over £15,000 was spent, with a breakdown of approximately £11,500 on staffing, £1,000 on sports coaches, £1,500 on the trip and £1000 on food throughout the week.
